First Lego League (FLL) at NCLA

FIRST Lego League (FLL) challenges kids to think like scientists and engineers.  During the upcoming FLL season, teams of 4th through 8th grade students will build, program and test an autonomous robot using LEGO MINDSTORMS® to solve a set of missions in the Robot Game.  They will also choose and solve a real-world question in the Project.  Throughout their experience, teams will
operate under FLL’s signature set of Core Values.

Plus, here are our specifics:

In order to compete in this incredible program that involves robotics and ties in with our STEAM emphasis, we need to raise $3,000 by the beginning of the 2014 school year.  This amount will cover the cost of materials, as well as registration and competition fees.  It will also plant the seed to further develop robotics enrichment programs at the elementary and middle school levels.

Competing in FLL requires a large time commitment, with both after-school and at home preparation.  No prior robotics experience is needed, but those with motivation, creativity and interest make wonderful teammates. Teams will be formed based on coach and teammate availability.  FLL requires a minimum of 2-3 hours per week during the competition season.
